Quilters Night Out

The Stitchers Group had an evening of good food, interesting quilts and a GREAT Play. Dinner was at di Vinci in Williamstown, WV. Marietta College, Marietta, Ohio is celebrating their 175th anniversary with many activities.

The Play, "QUILTERS", is an musical that journeys through the trials and celebrations of pioneer women and the hardships faced while heading West. The main character, Sarah, plus 9 women who played her daughters sang, danced and told the stories of their lives. The musical has been nominated for five Tony Awards, ranging from Best Musical to Best Original Score. It's lively with lots of music, scenes with raw emotions and toe stopping dancing. I really enjoyed the 2 1/2 hour production.

In conjunction with the Play is a small art exhibition "Women in Fiber: from Craft to Art". The fiber pieces are mostly in the artie line (lots of water towers) and only about 4 or 5 quilter's works are displayed.

If you're in the area the Play, "QUILTERS", is a "not to be missed".

We gathered at Becky's beautiful home on the river for our annual Christmas Party. Becky has a wonderful home. Photos will tell the story.

January 2010 we start the year on the 6th. The 2nd and 3rd Wednesday's in January we'll be working on Gabriel Project quilts.

Debbie made Roman Shades for Nancy's newly remodeled bathroom. They were really nice, heavy with some special fabric. I'll have to ask Debbie again what it's called.

We had donuts ......... hmmmmm good.

Margee brought back these beautiful fat quarters for us from her trip to Maine.

Betty showed us her Stack'n'Wack quilt ... she needs to add her borders.

Sandy brought in a quilt that will be donated to Ford Motor's Warrior In Pink silent auction.

Big Red Band will be hosting a bingo fund raiser at Madison School on Sat. Sandy donated the following items to the Band. This is for their Marshall Univ. basket. This is a double fleece quilt, quilted with Daisies Galore pantograph.

The table runner and napkins are for the Kitchen Basket.

Here are 2 quilts made by Betty for her granddaughters. So pretty. Sorry the 1st photo is not so good.

Lucy .... We will MISS you

We gathered at our fearless leaders home for a secret luncheon .... a secret from our dear friend LUCY ..... you see it was a "goodbye luncheon". Lucy and her family are moving as soon as school is out next week.

The kitchen .... everyone's favorite place to gather.

We made signature blocks for Lucy so she'll never forget us. The lap quilt was quilted with 'hearts' (we love her so) and loops pantograph.

And we gave Lucy a journal so she can write down all her happy thoughts. The pattern is from Fons and Porter magazine Winter 2007, Easy Quilts.

THANK YOU Greg for cooking lunch .... it was wonderful. Doris thank you for the chocolate pie.

Elaine is making this adorable circus applique quilt.

Marilyn is almost finished handquilting this teddy bear wholecloth for her DD.

Becky is making this beauty. Photo of the quilt isn't that great .... I can't wait to see it when she finishes.

Lucy has finished with this so soft afgan for her GD.

Betty pieced this backing for her GD's quilt. The backing is so pretty she might keep it for another top.

Maryiln has returned from her Caribbean cruise. She brought back 2 beauitful pieces ... green bark cloth and a batik pillow case.

Margee is almost finished with her black/white/red queen size quilt. Borders are next.

And she has started a new piece. Oh boy I love this scene ..... so peaceful.

Delores is making this afgan for her granddaughter .... blue is her favorite color.

Lucy has finished another baby item. The yarn was so soft .... a lucky baby will be thrilled.

I finished up an I SPY. A very good friends daughter is having her first baby in June ....

Everyone is WELCOME to join us whether you sew/quilt or not ..... Lucy knits/crochets as does Delores. Oh almost forgot Becky also knits as well as quilts. We're diverse .... we'll be happy to help anyone who wishes to learn ...... hey you might teach us too.

Thanks Doris for opening up the building for us. I believe we were 11 in attendance today.

This bag belongs to Michiel who purchased it at Borders. It is very neat and made from oil cloth or something like oil cloth. I think grocery bags would be perfect from oil cloth.

Now isn't this the sweetest pink/green Turning 20 quilt ...... Betty's granddaughter is going to be thrilled with her new twin quilt.

A few meetings back (April 1) Lucy fell in love with an animal fabric panel that Nancy purchased. The store was out of the panel so Lucy bought herself yardage to make a quilt for her "future GC". Lucy doesn't sew (she knits/crochets) so I offered to help Lucy out. I took her sweet animals home and quilted it for her.

I used the Ebb & Flow pantograph by Lorien Quilting but turned the fabric on my Nolting lengthwise so it has more of a leaf looking type motif.

Check out Margee's black/white with touch of red blocks .... are they not yummy. It's going to make a beautiful queen size quilt.

Debbie wow'ed us with her fabric selection in this 9 patch ...... love all the circles and squzzels.

Now remember last week when I showed you Lucy's knitting project ......... she told me today that she was making matching scarfs for one of her son's and his wife. By the way, Lucy has six sons.

Michiel is getting ready to handsew down the binding on this king size log cabin. This quilt will be raffled to raise money for the local Catholic Schools.

Nancy is going to help Michiel with the binding ...... they hope to have it ready for tomorrow which is Grandparents day at the School.

Oh Helen I didn't take your photo ..... Helen worked on her Turning 20 from last week.

And look what Lucy gave to me for quilting her yardage .... I love it ... Thanks Lucy.

We had two (2) really super treats on Wednesday. The first was Ellie's Delectable Mountain wall hanging. Thanks Ellie.

Check out Ellie's handquilting ..... it is perfect and certainly made the wall hanging.

Margee is working on her black/white with a touch of red queen size quilt. She's using Michiel's square'n'square ruler and says the ruler is wonderful. Hmmmm I need to find mine.

Check out Doris' project. She's covering clothes line with fabric to make a fabric bowl from the book, It's A Wrap. I can't wait to see the completed project.

Lucy's knitting. I forgot to ask her what she was making. The photo doesn't do the yarn and colors justice.

Now for our really big big treat. Lucy brought us some goodies to eat and drink. All I can say is if you weren't there you really missed out on some good eating ..... delicious.

Above and below are 3 Super Sized Patch quilts made by Ellie (l) and Eleanor (r).

Don't you love the raggedy ann/andy fabric ...... it certainly made pretty baby quilts. Some more exciting news. Eleanor will be joining our grop .... she and her mother, Ellie, plan to make a quilt together. WELCOME Eleanor.

I know it's hard to see above but the Madonna and Baby handquilted in gold by Nancy is beautiful in person. I've definitely added this to my very long list of "to-do".

Helen (above) continues on her Turning Twenty. It's going to be a stunner when she finishes.

And our sweet Lucy is crocheting away on a new baby afgan. I don't think I'm going to learn before Lucy moves up north .... oh boo-hoo.

Michiel and Marilyn made this king size log cabin. It will be a opportunity quilt to raise money for the local Catholic Schools.

Check this out Lucy our resident knitter has crossed over to quilting. Yea Lucy. This animal quilt will be for one of her future grandchildren.

Michiel is hand quilting her house quilt. I love that quilt.

Helen is working on a Turning Twenty.

And Margie finally has all the fabrics for her black, white and red square in a square.

Charity Work Continues & Valentine Luncheon

Our Charity work for February continues ..... all quilts will be donated to Gabriel Project.

Becky made this adorable flannel scrappy quilt and even made the backing interesting by sewing left over pieces together.

Nancy and Helen work on tieing another baby quilt. FYI ... they did finished and turned the backing to the front for a faux binding.

Marilyn has two (2) more Super Sized Nine patch baby quilts almost ready for tieing.

Becky worked on a purse that she started in class at Quilter's Corner in Marietta. I absolutely love her fabric.

We had a Valentine's lunch at Marilyn's house on Friday.

This is a Jim Shore fabrics ..... made in 2008 on a Quilting Cruise. The pictures don't do it justice. She also was the winner in the class ..... she won having her quilt longarmed by the instructor.

We all loved hearing about the Cruise and the quilting techniques she learned.

We have to leave you now because lunch is being served and cooked by Greg ... Marilyn's son. The table was all decorated for Valentine's Day. The food was out of this world ..... I have to get the recipes.

Charity Work Continues in February

This one was based on the free pattern from Bonnie at Quiltville.

These next two quilts (bar style) were based on this quilt from Lululollylegs blog.

Elaine made these 3 adorable quilts for Gabriel Project. First is a baby rag quilt, 2nd is a panel quilt and 3rd is the Disappearing Nine Patch pattern (D9P).

Two more charity quilts in progress by Becky and Margee.

Marge finished piecing this beautiful quilt for one of her daughters ...... it's wonderful.

Last week while we were all snowed in Margee pieced the backing (below).

NOTE: The photos don't do Margee's top and backing justice ..... they were stunning. Way to go Margee.

Friday, February 13 .... REMINDER

A reminder that we will have lunch at Marilyn's house Friday the 13. Beginning about 10:45AM. Since we really won't work on anything (but can always bring handwork) since we need the table for lunch we can start a little later. Marilyn will have a surprise topic for us.

Now you're saying to yourself ..... what is that mess of fabrics ....... those my friends turn into wonderful baby quilts that will be donated to Gabriel Project.

Elaine made these 3 adorable quilts for Gabriel Project. First is a baby rag quilt, 2nd is a panel quilt and 3rd is the Disappearing Nine Patch pattern (D9P). They are adorable. Three lucky babies will cuddle in these quilts.

Nancy, our resident expert on tying quilts, is showing Judy how it's done. We love that Judy came to help us and we hope she'll come back soon.

Becky is getting ready to tackle her basket of flannel pieces. Check out the pretty baby quilts she made from the squares.

Two more baby quilts. Margee's sister, Ritie, sent us the one on the 2nd one as a donation, thanks.

This is the Super Sized Nine Patch pattern. It's an easy pattern using 3 coordinating fabrics and you get 3 baby quilts. Pattern is by Anita Grossman Solomon, the pattern is FREE HERE

Marilyn is showing Ellie and Eleanor the fine art of cutting out the Super Nine quilts.

Betty is working on several Super Sized Nine Patch quilts too.

Christmas Party 2008

MERRY CHRISTMAS

We had our annual Christmas party today at Marilyn's. Isn't her above Nativity set beautiful !!!!

This is where the Stitcher's Group started .... at Marilyn's with 4 people .... WOW we have grown. We have quilters, knitters, crocheters, needle pointers, cross stitchers and more .... we are very diverse. Everyone is WELCOME.

The table was set for 12 ..... we had so much fun. We missed Michiel, Sharon, Clarice, Cathy, Sharyn and Carol but you were all there in spirit. (I hope I didn't leave anyone out.)

We had so much fun chatting, laughing and sharing in the kitchen .... the heart of the home.

The food ... oh my gosh we had everything. Let's see if I can remember: shrimp w/cocktail sauce (homemade), spinach dip w/Jesus bread, tortellini soup, lasagna, deviled eggs, potato salad, salad, bread, wine. Then the desserts ... pumpkin cheese cake, cherry cheese cake, chocolate/carmel goodie and cream puffs. Now I might have left something out ... Everything was wonderful, delicious, terrific, great and even more than all that.

And to top it all off we had a little snow to dress all the trees and landscape (roads were clear).

Road Trip and Shop Hop

Our road trip started at 9AM from the Church parking lot. Nine (9) yes 9 of us piled into cars and took off. The weather was nice, just a tiny bit cool but all in all it was a wonderful day to hit the highway.

First we stopped at the Nelsonville Quilt Company, Nelsonville, Ohio.

Check out that ceiling, a real honest to goodness tin ceiling. You certainly don't see those anymore.

Our leader, Marilyn, called on Monday to let them know we would be visiting. Can you believe it ... they had coffee and homemade cookies waiting for us. They were very yummy.

Now for some eye candy. Beautiful fabrics, tons of projects for viewing

Susan, owner, gave us 2 demo's. (1) cell phone holder and (2) wrapped/corded hot pad. (sorry I forgot to take a photo of the projects)

The shop also does longarm quilting for customers on their Gammill.

Our second stop was lunch at The Inn, Nelsonville, Ohio. The food was excellent and very reasonable.

Our last stop was Sew Happy Quilting in Little Hocking, Ohio. A nice shop, friendly people and they also provide long arm services on their Gammill.

It was a wonderful day ...... we all did plenty of money damage of the two (2) shops. LOL

Gosh we had the most fun today .... almost everyone was able to come. Cathy and Sharyn we missed you ... hope to see you at our next meeting, Dec. 3.

Becky is back from her Florida vacation with 3 new quilts and some pillows. This one was made for the Relay For Life in May 2009. It's so beautiful. Raffle tickets are available at $1/each or 6/$5.00

I hope you can see the quilt pattern .... the cancer ribbon with a rose in the middle. Becky had this one quilted while she was in Florida.

This one was made for a new baby girl. I tried to capture the quilt motif but I guess I was too close as the photo was blurred. It was quilted all over with dragonfly's. The green border is a dragonfly print. Adorable....

And Becky's One Block Wonder. The photo doesn't even begin to show it's beauty.

The lady quilted it with large Koi in the body with gold thread. Breath taking. The black border was also quilted with Koi only smaller and with black thread.

This is the back .... one strip of the fabric up the middle of the back.

Almost forgot the pillows that Becky is making .... pinwheel pattern. They are pieced beautifully and her new rufflier attachment is worth it's weight in gold.

Check out those tea cups and tea pot fabric ........ oh how I love it.

As you can see Becky is very prolific as she has lots of sewing time in Florida ....... aren't the turtles adorable .... I can't wait to see this wall hanging.

And our fearless leader Marilyn brought us a terrific gift today ....... a big ironing board. Isn't this the greatest ......

The rest of us worked on our projects, cutting fabric, a secret project. Marilyn also gave a short lesson on batting and marking fabrics. It was a GREAT day.

MERRY QUILTING

I know it's been awhile since I posted our happenings ........ sorry.

Nancy has been making scrap blocks which she then does quilt as you go.

Aren't the blocks pretty ........ this is going to be a great quilt.

I tried to photograph her quilting but it's hard to capture.

Lucy is fairly new to our group. She crochets. Sometime soon we're going to have a class. I can't wait. Lucy does beautiful work.

Isn't this a pretty block? I'm not going to say who as this is a Christmas gift for someone near and dear to the quiltmaker.

Carol has moved to Texas, they wanted to be closer to their children. We're making her a wall hanging ....... this is one of the blocks.

Summer Updates

I thought maybe I should post here that no updates will be made during the summer. I keep my grandchildren in the summer so not much sewing/quilting takes place. I'm also tied up everymorning with swim lessons and swim team ......... sorry. You'll find me over at Quilting Nanny.

Quilt June 4 Meeting

Good Morning ....... Becky brought us donuts as a pre-celebration to our goodbye luncheon for Sharon.

We had a mini-class on binding today by Marilyn. She discussed widths, types (sog, bias) and sewing it onto your quilt.

Becky (right) got her quilt back from the longarm quilter. A gift for her SIL.

Today was Sharon's last day with us. She's moving to Delaware. So we made her a gift. Guess you can what kind of gift????

Isn't that an adorable doggie tote housing the surprise (yes I, Sandy, made the tote). The pattern is a take off on Terry's idea.

Quilt May 28 Meeting

First off CONGRATS to Margee ..... her grandson Murphy David made his appearance on Tuesday. Mom and Murphy ( 9 lbs and 4 oz) are doing fine.

Second WELCOME to Elaine and Doris who stopped by to visit our group. We hope you guys will join our Stitchers Group ....... more the merrier.

We were alittle thin on members this week ...... so not many photos for viewing.

Nancy's quilts for the twin girls are finished and they are so adorable. Love those kitties.

Carol works on finishing her binding on this pretty floral quilt.

Marilyn is relating the story behind her hand stitched grandmother's garden blocks to Clarice. I believe Marilyn stated these about 20 yrs ago. We love those 1980's fabrics.

When Marilyn was in Columbus last week she stopped in at the Glass Thimble and Quilt Beginnings. She brought us back these 2 new notions. Left is a threader that has a cutter on the other side, perfect for airline travel. Right is Chalk Cartridge Set for quilt marking. We can't wait to try them out. (sorry the photo is out of focus)

Betty has finished her Charlie Brown print quilt for Project Linus. It is too adorable.

Judy (left) continues with her cross stitch project from last week. Clarice (right) continues to work on the embroidery project her mother stated many years ago.

No photo of me but I worked on the binding of a donation baby quilt ..........

Quilt May 21 Meeting

A big WELCOME to Judy who joined our group today. We're so happy to increase our little group. Judy loves to cross stitch. She's working on this project .... photo of one of her granddaughters. You send a photo to the company who in turn charts it, assigns colors and returns it to you. This photo doesn't do a thing for the project .... it was fantastic.

Nancy is working on a new girl quilt ...... remember those twins that were to be boys but .... he he he were girls.

Becky is hand quilting that adorable table runner she made at the "outhouse quilt retreat".

Margee made a commitment to herself the beginning of the year to learn how to applique. Sharon taught Margee her method of applique today.

Now for the hand stitching .... adorable humming bird.

A friend's ex-MIL passed away recently. Her stash landed at my house where I sorted everything. Nancy is busy picking her favorites to add to her stash.

This was also in the box. I hope to be able to finish it in some manner. Any ideas?

Also in the box were batting wrappers with patterns from the 1950's.

Helen is checking out some of the books from the MIL stash also books from my, Sharon's and Marilyn's (our leader) stash.

Betty is almost finished with her baby quilt from 2 weeks ago. She learned a new technique for binding today.

Helen is making this adorable little quilt. The colors, pink and blue, are nice and bright.

Nancy must of learned a few new things today ...... check it out she's writing in her quilt journal .... way to go Nancy.

Nancy and Betty are learning the ladder stitch from Marilyn. Love that ladder stitch .... it's so great for lots of things like applique and bindings.

Marilyn and Becky are planning something I do believe.

We missed Carol, Michiel, Cathy and Sharyn today ...... hope to see you next week.

Betty is whipping out an adorable Snoppy baby quilt ... we're so glad her sewing machine is fixed.

Sharon has a beautiful pumpkin applique quilt in progress ..... I love the sunflower block.

Last week Becky was on a retreat ..... an outhouse retreat ..... actually the bathroom unit was just outside their sleeping quarters ... thus the Outhouse Retreat. She won all those 9 patch signature blocks.

And she purchased all those beautiful Moda blocks.

While at the retreat she made this adorable red table runner.

And finished piecing her One Block Wonder quilt. It's beautiful and no way does the photo do it justice.

Carol brought in her wonderful blue and white quilt. She plans to applique the circles. Unfortunately this quilt was sent out to a longarmer who didn't do such a good job .... everyone helped Carol frog the stitching in the white blocks last year.

NOTE: I must have had my camera on a wrong setting. I'm not sure why so many of the photos have a yellow cast .... I have no idea how to fix it.

Margee is already playing peek-a-boo with grandson (to be) quilt. Isn't it adorable. Nice job Margee.

Marilyn found another UFO ... grandmother's garden to finish.

Betty is cutting borders on the fabrics length of grain for an adorable delectable mountain quilt for her granddaughter. Love the colors.

Another cute quilt in the works by Betty ... nine patch to be teamed up with a novelty fabric to be purchased soon.

Sharyn and Cathy made their portable ironing/cutting mats .... they turned out really nice. Now they're ready for a retreat.

Carol also found a UFO project .... she might have to wing this project because the instructions are missing.

Quilt April 23 Meeting

Man we almost had a full house today ......... we had so much catching up to do. If we had some confetti we would have had a ticker parade .... instead we did alot of talking, talking, talking............... It was wonderful ..... we have a terrific group.

Becky was back from her month long vacation in Florida. She was a busy quilter completing 5 quilts and an almost completed One Block Wonder. Becky and Margee are taping up the One Block Wonder so they can start moving the blocks around.

Now check out the quilts Becky finished. She found a wonderful Gammill/Statler longarm at a shop in Florida.

This Halloween themed quilt is my favorite. It's quilted with spiders and webs ... fabulous job.

I worked on the quilt I'm making for Fr. Casey, our Parish Priest, (St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church) who is being transferred at the end of the month. I'm happy to report that as of 7PM tonight the quilt is finished ... 2 days to spare.

I used the Trailing Vine pantograph by Lorien Quilting ..... When DH was looking at the back he said "I really like the 'flame' and 'fish' idea ... great quilting honey. I then told him 'those are vines' but you know what my quilting does look like flames and fish ....

We talked and laughed so much that Marilyn, Cathy and Sharyn had to go into the conference to have their lessons ............. we're sorry. LOL

Margee is working as fast as she can .... her new grandson will arrive in the next 2 weeks.

Now for the mystery photo ....... any ideas what toilet paper and a tooth pick have in common???

Well they're very important sewing machine tools ..... Betty was having problems with her bobbin not winding properly and we tried to clean under the bobbin case .... thus our new tools. I told you we were a wacky group. Marilyn was trying to fix the machine .... gotta call the machine man.

To top off our day ......... we went to Chams for lunch ........ Nancy joined us ... hey Nancy have fun visiting your parents next week.

Quilt April 16 Meeting

Nancy, Nancy, Nancy put down that cell phone and get quilting. LOL

Sharon brought in a PRIZE ... made in 1917. This crazy quilt now belongs to Sharon, coming down the line from her DH's family. It's in almost pristine condition, a few worn places along the edge. We are all jealous. What a treasure.

Sharon continues to work on her dimensional quilt from last week. It's so cute.

We had a wonderful surprise .... Michiel was able to join us for a few hours. Isn't her house quilt wonderful .... hand quilting which she does beautifully.

Margee has her strips ready for baby Trip around the World. My aren't the colors wonderful .... her new grandson next month.

Now we come to me. I finished 2 string quilts .... did the bindings last weekend while visiting our DD#2 in Cincinnati.

And I brought in 2 Stack 'n' Slash (no not stack'n'wack). Wanted to show our newbie quilters how the same pattern looks so different done in 2 different color waves. The all purple I made for my MIL before her death in 2007. The yellow/pink now belongs to DD#2 (pink is her favorite color). (Sorry about the photos ... I need to re-shoot them outside) My personal tutorial.

Now Sharyn and Cathy show off their blocks. Same blocks, different fabrics. They also learned about applique and making their own templates.

As a Group we are participanting in a Quilt Fresco that I read first about on Nellie's blog. Here are our Hands that will be winging their way to France this week.

I love this group .... we have so much fun.

April 9 Meeting

We all LOVE to quilt BUT our favorite thing to do while quilting is to eat CHOCOLATE !!!! Here's some of our CHOCOLATE stash ...... check out those pretty colors just like fabric.

Even though the Parish Hall kitchen was receiving a new dishwasher, sink and cabinets we pressed on with our quilting. There was no water in the kitchen for coffee/tea making so our leader, Marilyn, brought us coffee from home ....... thanks Marilyn.

Sharon has a new quilt ... actually block of the month. Sharon loves 'houses' .... see the house in the middle!!! The colors are yummy and bright.

The colors are luscious .... the pinwheel block was adorable (no photo).

Our Nancy was humming along to finish the bindings on her 2 baby quilts from last week.

Aren't they adorable !!!!!!

You remember the Ohio University quilt Marilyn made for one of her grandsons ..... well she has decided to sew the left overs to make the backing .... all the colors of red and grey were so pretty.

She has alot of pieces left over from the OU quilt.

I made these 2 quilts in memory of an internet quilting friend who passed away March 31. I'll be donating these 2 quilts to Project Linus in honor of JanJ of Texas.

April 2 Quilt Meeting

As usual we had lots of varied projects .... and our beginning quilt classes.

Here's Sharyn showing off her 4 patch (hand stitched), learning to use the rotary cutter and selecting a block to learn half square triangles. Marilyn starts all her newbies out on a hand stitched 4 patch .... great job Sharyn.

Nancy has selected some yummy fabrics for friends. Don't you love that pirate fabric and the stripes.

Nancy also finished up the badges for her boys ..... 3 are going for Eagle Scout (I believe).

Margee and Marilyn try to decided if this adorable one-way print fabric could be cut into blocks .... hmmm Margee decides the print will make a wonderful border fabric.

That adorable print will be merged with these fabrics for a Trip Around The World Quilt. Another one for Margee's son-to-be grandson in May.

Don't you love the way the block pop off the background. Great job Margee.

Sharon sews on her favorite machine ..... it makes the best stitch. Sharon has a new project with lots of half square triangles.

Marilyn has two (2) projects going. Love those fans.

March 26 Quilt Meeting

We had lots of eye candy today at our meeting. We missed getting together during Holy Week last week. We also missed seeing Nancy who is away for a wedding and Becky who is still vacationing in Florida.

Michiel was able to join us today ... we have missed her sunny smile at quilt group. You see she's a school teacher now so can't join us too often. She brought today a quilt she worked on and off for 10 years ... it's dedicated to her father's memory.

This quilt was totally designed by Michiel (left), machine pieced, partially machine quilted and then hand quilted. The pictures don't do it justice ... it's beautiful.

This quilt was from a former guild challenge several years ago. The blue flower fabric was handed out to all members to make some sort of house quilt.

Michiel is hand quilting the quilt. Check out the border.

Clarice continues to work at finishing a piece her mother started many years ago. It will be stunning when she's done.

This is an I Spy that I (Sandy) made for a friend of my DD#2. Meet Jen's new baby Sara ...... isn't she adorable.

DD#2 and Jen have been friends since their WVU college days. The quilt is machine pieced and long arm quilted.

And speaking of babies ..... Margee's grandson will be arriving soon and his first quilt is almost finished, only the binding needs to be completed. May will be here before you know it. This sweet quilt is machine pieced and hand quilted.

Now remember two weeks ago when Fr. Peterson gave us a special Easter project to sew ..... the chiffon swags (120 yards) turned out wonderful and really look beautiful.

Helen was with us today also ....... I missed getting her quilting project photo. I'm sorry Helen.

Last but not least we are all very sad ...... our dear quilting friend Sharon (left) will be moving to Delaware (DH was transferred). We will miss her very much.

To our newbie quilters ....... sorry I had to leave early today. Took my GD's shopping.

March 12 Meeting

We had alot of fun today sewing on a project which will decorate St. Margaret Mary Church. Today Fr. Peterson asked us to hem chiffon yardage... beautiful chiffon panels of white, lavender and soft pink will hang from the arches. Church secretary, Tina, gave us our instructions.

Marilyn, Nancy, Margee and Helen worked on the 10 yard bolts (9 bolts). Boy that chiffon fabric was all over the place ... very slippery. Then Sandy hit on the idea of using tissue paper to give it stability .... the only problems was we didn't have tissue paper. A light bulb went off ... well we do have toilet paper ....... so toilet paper laid on the bed of the sewing machines did the trick. In no time they were all done. What a fun day and Nancy brought us Easter Reese cups too.

I'm sorry Ellen I didn't get your photo ..... Ellen worked on the beautiful soft pink chiffon.

We were very happy to help Fr. Peterson today ..... the Parish Hall is a wonderful place to sew and quilt. Thank you Fr. Peterson for allowing us to use the Parish Hall.

And Margee brought in her baby blocks for her very soon to be grandson .... they are so sweet. She plans to sash the blocks with the mint green. It's going to be so pretty. This quilt will be his floor quilt. Margee has another wonderful quilt planned for him ... she got the fabrics while on vacation in Florida. GS will be here in just about a month.

Clarie continues to work on an embroidery project her mother started many years ago. John (Marilyn's DH) stopped in to visit.

Then it was time for Marilyn's quilting students to have class. WELCOME to Jean (St. Monica's)

who joined in the lessons. They are working very hard ...... today Marilyn talked about color, grades of fabrics, needles and so many other important quilt topics. The ladies all started hand sewing blocks for a pillow which they will hand quilt.

March 5 Meeting

Yahoo .... at last the weather cooperated today and most of us were in attendance. Get well soon Margee, we missed you. We have lots of quilts to show off today.

AND a very big WELCOME to Cathy and Sharyn. They're taking Marilyn's FREE beginner quilting classes (8 weeks (now through April)). Don't they look very studious.

Classes are free and open to anyone.

Our Becky brought 3 quilts today to show off. First is an oriental pattern ... it's beautiful.

I forgot to get the name of this pattern but we love the vintage looking fabrics especially the rose ones. A couple more borders and this one will be off to Becky's long armer.

This treasure might go missing from Becky's house. We all fell in love with it. Becky's mother made the top ... all men's wool suiting fabrics. Becky tied it and finished off the binding today.

Marilyn's Ohio Star for her grandson is fabulous. She purchased the embroidered blocks and did the photo transfer herself. We can't wait to see it after it's long armed.

Ellie's Delectable Mountains ... isn't it out of this world. It's all hand quilted too.

Sandy showed off a couple quilts. These 2 are for returning Troops.

This one plus 5 others were donated to Habitat House in Franklin, WV

After show'n'tell everyone got to work on their projects.

We are members of various Church's in the area and various denominations.

This is a three (3) generation quilt in the making. Nancy's mother started this Bullseye Quilt and gave it to Nancy to finish. Nancy finished all the stitching and now her daughter will add buttons from her grandmother's button box. She plans to hang it in her college dorm.

WVU Quilt

We, The Stitchers, are new to blogging so we thought we'd go ahead and post some of our project completed before we became 'bloggers'.

This WVU (West Virginia University) quilt was made by Becky for her oldest son, John. John is a graduate of WVU, Morgantown, WV and works for Ford Motor Co.

Becky collected lots and lots of blue and gold (yellow) fabrics for some time and did all the photo transfers. Oh and the WVU fabric was knit p.j. fabric from WalMart. This is a Turning 20 pattern. It was machine quilted at The Fabric Shop, Pomery, Ohio.

Marilyn brought her wedding ring quilt she started in 1988 ... hand piecing. Isn't it pretty!!!!

Carol joined us this week and we were so happy to see her. She worked on the binding of her Delectable Mountain quilt. It's very pretty.

Margee continued on her cross stitch for DD#2 who is expecting a baby boy.

Nancy got started on constructing a panel for her Delectable Mountain quilt.

I worked on binding a charity quilt for Project Linus.

January 30 Meeting

We're a versatile group ... well some of us are. We all quilt but some have other hobbies like knitting, embroidery and cross stitch. Now I'm sticking to my guns .... I'm not starting any new hobbies. LOL

Today after our regular Stitcher Group we went out to lunch to Chams Lebanese restaurant. A wonderful Lebanese restaurant opened downtown back in 2006.

I must say we had a good time. One of the owners came over to explain to me what each dish was and how it's made ... see this was my first time at the restaurant.

After lunch we went across the street to the Market Yarn Store

and next door to Sew Creative.
Both are nice shops and owned by a couple who moved here from Virginia. Sew Creative is fairly new and just receiving some nice fabrics. It was a nice day spent with friends.

Shop Hop to Pomeroy, Ohio

Four of us from our Wednesday Stitchers Group (Becky, Marilyn, Margee and me) too off for Pomeroy, Ohio. We wanted to hit The Fabric Shop, it's an old building on the main drag. We took off in Becky's big "A" truck and as you can see we got a parking spot right in front of the store.

They allowed me to take a couple photos inside the store. First stop was the bathroom (inside) .... I said it's really an old building.

Then lunch at The Wild Horse Cafe ....... did you see those horseshoes. Check out their fireplace.

It was a bleak, cloudy day .... see the barge going down the Ohio River.

When we came out it was snowing up a storm ...... it was a slow trip home. But no problem we decided to make another stop in Belpre, Ohio at Bev's Country Loft.

January 23 Meeting

Clarice joined us this week. Her mother (102) is unable to continue doing needlework. So Clarice who is a newbie to sewing of any type is going to try and finish her mother's and grandmother's projects. Marilyn is helping her out while she handquilts a baby quilt.

Nancy finished up the binding on her two tied quilts for a friend. Such pretty, bright prints.

Margee continues with her baby cross stitch picture for DD. And Becky continues with her Halloween quilt.

Me .... well I continued with my Santa and Rudolph Photo wall hanging.

January 16 Meeting

Today is Wednesday .... quilting day with friends who meet at St. Margaret Mary Parish Hall. We meet every week and sometimes go on shop hops, lunches and wherever our heart desires.

We were a few short today but Nancy, Becky, Margee and I had a good morning chatting and working on our projects.

Becky worked on her Halloween Quilt, Nancy was able to tie one quilt and most of another, Margee worked on her cross stitch for DD who is soon to have a baby boy and I continued with the buttonhole stitch on my Santa/Rudolph in the photo booth.

Nancy brought in a wonderful Nativity wall hanging she made 15yrs ago when pregnant with her twin boys ..... she wanted to prove she does complete things. LOL

Here's Nancy and Becky with the notebooks that I made as a New Year's gift for everyone.

We missed our RingLeader, Marilyn, today ... hope you feel better soon. See you guys next week. Last week Sharon brought in her beautiful Thimbleberries project.

And here's a peek at Margee's scrappy baby quilt for her new grandson who will soon to make his appearance.

Kate asked me for photos of my project, Santa and Rudolph in the Photo Booth. The pattern is a from Country Quilts by Cheryl Wall. The wool kit was purchased from Woolen Willow by DH. Here's 2 of the blocks that are sort of done plus a photo of the pattern (I didn't see it on Country Quilts website).
